After Dan Brown hopeful writers around the world as to found a great recipe for a bestseller - Renaissance art and science coded pictures and books and characters obsessed with discovering secrets and solving mysteries. But although this thriller has all this in combination, would be unfair to compare the best selling Dan Brown fans of mysteries will agree that it is good enough and itself.
The book was written in 2004 by the young, then graduate Ian Caldwell and Dustin Thomason, and the story revolves around four friends obsessed with solving the mystery surrounding the famous coded book Hypnerotomachia Poliphili which in itself undoubtedly holds many secrets associated with the Italian Renaissance and Science. Tom, one of the main characters and the narrator of the story at the same time, I "inherited" obsession with the book from his father, who was a professor and expert exactly the mysterious case. Witness how the fascination of the book separates his father, mother, constantly struggling between the desire to uncover the mystery and fear that will destroy life. Fortunately, obsession shared with his friend Paul, excellent student four years in college to delving into the book and was basing his diploma thesis. In the story a role to play Charlie and Gil, friends who will accompany the research.
As I was nearing the end of their studies, Tom and Paul realize that far from revealing secret older than 500 years that so overwhelmed them, but thanks to a book written cipriani nyc by his father Tom before his death, the guys find a letter - key opens totally new questions, but also offers new answers. Sure, a thriller would be a good thriller if the quartet would be faced with the bad guys. In fact, what lies behind the code of Hypnerotomachia Poliphili is far greater and more important than what friends can imagine. The story often goes back to the lives of the "background" characters, those who were directly involved in the history of the coded book and realize that it is more than just young students eager to solve mysteries.
I must admit that at times feels his youth, and to some extent and presumptuousness of writers who "just got out of school." Although the characters are well built, not tie them too, but still want to stay with them fully in the discovery of the secret. What may disappoint some readers is that problem solving mysteries and codes are not going directly to "your eyes." Unlike the masters of fiction, including there again mention Dan Brown, who with his vivid storytelling and originality literally force you to decide the code in the head with them, here you get a sudden decision after one of the characters found alone. I liked the end of the book and how the guys managed to reach something cipriani nyc really original without leaving the reader hanging on the edge.
About the Author Since I remember I love the game of words and no more personal to me now than when I'm alone with you in front of a blank sheet of paper. I appreciate the company of a beautiful book, quality music and a cup of Turkish coffee. I love old things and vintage photographs, especially those that carry the story. Graduate economist who studies has survived thanks to the reliability of chocolate.
