(written 7/10) Last night I went to meet with the catering manager at the Bettendorf HyVee. Now that I have taken the position as 2 nd vice president on the executive council for Student Council, I have been put in charge of planning the Homecoming Courtyard Party! So one of the first things to get in order is to pick out the food.
We have decided on an Around the World theme for this year’s party. This will be the 100 th anniversary for Homecoming, and so we wanted to create a special theme that would allow us to not only honor the Palmers marc paskin but also all the alumni and current staff and students at Palmer. B.J. and Mabel loved to travel and made 2 big trips around the world, traveling for an entire year mainly by boat, and Palmer has alumni working all over the world and students who come from all over the world, so we thought this would be an appropriate theme.
The food will be tricky to stick to a budget and have options from many different marc paskin parts of the world, but the catering manager at HyVee was more than excited to play around with all the options, and it has me excited to see what we can tie together to bring everyone some culture through food!
